MICHAEL
MATTHEWS
TBR Contracting was founded in 1989 by Michael's father, Wayne Matthews — built on strong family values and a hands-on commitment to quality workmanship. After completing school, Michael joined the business in 2009, learning the trade from the ground up alongside Wayne.
In 2017, Michael took over the business, carrying forward everything his father built over nearly three decades. Today he is personally involved in every project — from the initial site assessment to the final inspection.
Clients deal directly with the owner, not a project manager or salesman. That owner-led accountability is the same standard Wayne set in 1989 — and it hasn't changed.

Michael Matthews Joins the Business
After completing school, Michael Matthews — Wayne's son — joined TBR Contracting, learning the trade from the ground up alongside his father.
Relocation to Bloemfontein
The business relocated to Bloemfontein in the Free State, opening up new markets while continuing to serve clients nationally.
